What will I receive as part of the Smart Tax franchise system?
You will have up to 5 days of training at our headquarters. In addition, we will provide up to 1 day of onsite help at your own location. You will have access to all Smart Tax operational procedures, software and other exclusive tools. We'll provide you with a copy of our confidential operations manual to help you run your business effectively. Best of all, you'll have the support of our central corporate offices both during the tax season and especially after April 15th, when we'll be there to provide direct support to your clients if needed.

What type of prior experience do I need to have?
We look for candidates who understand the importance of client service; management skills are also important. We are looking for franchise owners who are capable of opening and operating both single and multiple locations. However, it is not necessary to have previous experience in tax preparation. Regardless of your skills or background, we will provide the tools and training you need to run your own Smart Tax locations.

How much will Smart Tax franchise investment cost me?
The estimated required investment for a single-unit franchise ranges between $36,650 and $93,600 including the franchisee fee of $20,000. Franchise fees are reduced for multi-unit agreements.

Are there ongoing fees paid to the franchisor?
Franchisees will be required to pay royalties of 15-20% of revenues. Franchisees will be required to spend minimum of $1,500 of revenues per year on local marketing. Franchisees may also be required to contribute up to 3% of their revenues toward a system marketing fund. Funds are used to develop marketing strategies to promote the Smart Tax® brand and fund the creative costs to develop local franchise marketing materials.

Is financing available?
We do not offer direct financing to franchisees, however, we will defer half of the initial franchise fee until the end of the first tax season.

What is the term of the franchise agreement?
The initial term of your franchise agreement is 5 years, with 3 subsequent 5-year renewal terms.
